BlackPeaRL II - My First PC Built ever !!!

I managed to build my very own PC yay!! Ended it Sat 9, after a loooot of reading and sweating (will I fry the CPU when I turn the PC on? :p).I just needed a new PC but I was not ready to buy one with Vista (please let XP be) at least not just yet.
And I wanted my own stuff in it.

So I went on & started to check which mobo, processor, graphic card, hdd and burner I wanted. Shopping list done, ordered everything from ldlc.com and cdiscount.com.
I started mounting, a lot of Youtube's 'build your own pc' vids later, here I am :D
No pics just yet (will add some later) but that was really fun to do and ...
It's beautiful!

My build :
Antec Sonata III 500
Asus P5K E Wifi/AP (Intel P35)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16 GHz
Zalman CNPS 9700 LED
Kingston ValueRam 4 Go (2x 2 Go) DDR2-SDRAM PC6400
Sapphire Radeon HD4850 512 Mb DDR3 PCIe
Samsung SpinPoint F1 HD502IJ 500 Go SATA II
Lite-On LH-20A1S
Under Windows XP Pro SP2 which I already had.

All parts amounted to about 750 eur incl vat total.
I will add a CD Rom drive later so I use the burner only when necessary.

And no, I am not a gamer (not yet at least!) but I figured if I build my own, I
might as well do something that will last somehow in the long run, and I wanted to treat myself with them goodies :D.

For now I'm a Simaholic and that's it.
(yes,you hard-core gamers and mad overclockers, go have a laugh,I don't care!!!)
Sims 2 Apartment Life coming out soon, and next year the Sims 3: can't wait!!!

Worked first time I booted it up (I could then breathe again ^_^)
It actually took me longer to figure out how to make the
front panel sound work (apparently it's a known problem on
this mobo: sound!!) with the built-in sound card, than to built
the actual PC.
I might upgrade later with a sound card but not yet.
I haven't installed WiFi either for now.

Mounting the whole thing took me a couple of days,I took my time as
I did not want to mess everything up from the get go
I work nights so I had to stay focused (read read watch watch, plug
in plug out watch again plug in smile!)
The hardest thing to mount was the cooler: those copper fans are
killers!! Cut my fingers more than once, and half an hour to
screw the damn thing!! And it's huuuge and very impressive too
(but how I love the blue LED!)

I'm still preping my baby up (BlackPeaRL II, first one I didn't build
myself but it inspired me to !)
And it should be as I want it to: clean, hyper functionnal, no rubbish progs
or apps! and super organized HDD's - In total with my external drives
i have a little over 1.8 To storage capacity (what the heck???)
Understand that some time ago I was in a frenzy and bought just any hdd I fancied
to back up my back ups...(lost everything once, never again!)

So that's it, me having fun with BP II - and that's just the beginning!!!

Bye!
